International Women’s Day is celebrated the world over on 8th of March. It pays tribute to the impregnable spirit of women across the globe. The first National Woman’s Day was more or less a political event, observed across the United States on 28 February. Since then it continued to be celebrated as National Woman’s Day on the last Sunday of February until 1913. In 1913 following discussions, International Women’s Day was transferred to 8 March and this day has remained the global date for International Women’s Day ever since. The day is now an official holiday in over 25 countries.
One of the easiest ways you can celebrate this International Women’s Day is by making a #PledgeForParity using the campaign’s official hashtag on social media. The pledge means you promise to help girls and women around the world accomplish their dreams. That doesn’t mean you have to be an activist and go out and open for the cause, rather do all you can do with all your heart where you are. Try to help uplift women around you in whatever way feasible. Even the tiniest bit of your time and effort can help someone go a long way.
Women have made significant contributions around the world through politics, technology, and, of course, art. Celebrate this year by basking in female creativity. Checkout some book by a female author, or visit art galleries of work by women. Follow female entrepreneur or leaders to know their stories and be inspired. Or just appreciate the women in your circle for the wonderful work that they are doing. I personally know so many creative minds around me, in so many varied professions; it makes me grateful, to be able to be in their presence and be inspired every now and then.
One of the best things you can do is to make sure to do everything in your power to uplift yourself, to do all you can and more to achieve what you want, to be true to yourself and never give up on your dreams and desires.
Cause when you are your best, only then you can help the rest.
Keep Smiling, Stay Positive & a very Happy Women’s Day!!
