Valleys, Meadows & Pine Forest…

Vagamon is a hill station in Idukki district of Kerala, India. Far away from the loud city culture and maddening tourist crowds, this place gifts lush greenery and serenity to every visitor. It is one of the best offbeat hill stations I have seen so far, a great choice to unwind with your loved ones. The town is surrounded by valleys, green meadows, pine forests, mists, fogs, tea estates, waterfalls.

So Vagamon was Day 2 of our Kerala trip. We started from Kuttikannam without any plan/ itinerary in mind. All we knew was that the weather is superb and we have a car, so we can stop at any random place we desire. Plus we had a wonderful driver, who was persistent to take us to all the touristy spots (so we had nothing to miss out on). Our first halt was a British Cemetry (Since 1869), where we spent a few minutes while our car got all fixed up for the long day ahead (I will leave in a Video down below of the Cemetry that I found on YouTube in case you want more details).

Next up we halted on the way just to stroll through some Tea Gardens, basically to have some fun with the camera 😛 which you can see on this Blog in great detail – For all the Tea Lovers: Kerala

Then came the Pine Forest and oh my God, it was just soo beautiful. The first few feet of the forest give you the typical tourist spot vibe but once you walk a little deep into the forest, its a pleasure for the soul. A variety of flowers and orchids, the smell of forest wood, little sunshine getting through the trees and the sound of SILENCE! The huge forest cover of Pine trees make up for a lovely sight altogether and you can spend as much time here as you want.

The final destination of our second day, green meadows of Vagamon with a lake amidst them. It has for long been a favorite location for shooting movie songs. Tourist entering here are warned here to be on alert and keep yourself safe by not standing on the hilltop when there is suspected rain as it can lead to a lightning hazard, and lucky for us it wasn’t raining. Get on the highest hilltop you see and lie down watching the clouds float above our heads, feel the misty winds and gaze the scenic lush green landscape all around. The perfect closing to an amazing Day!
