Let me start with a smooth and sweet intro from Wikipedia: “Vijaya Vilas Palace is the famous summer palace of Jadeja Maharao of Kutch located on sea-beach of Mandvi in Kutch, Gujarat, India. The construction of the palace completed in the year 1929. The mixture and mingling of architect and style of different regions of India can be distinctly seen in design & architect of the Vijaya Vilas Palace.”
Built in red sandstone adorning colored glasses, jali work and stone-carved elements as we saw in Aina Mahal & Parag Mahal. The doorwork, jharokas, chajjas, impeccably designed and built. The balcony at the top affords a superb view of the surrounding area. The tiny intricate windows give one feeling to be out in open, through which cool sea wind passes out. The royal family of Kutch State now resides permanently in the palace. And I could revisit the movie scenes from the Bollywood blockbusters Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Lagaan, at multiple spots in the palace. This one was a mesmerizing beauty that left me wondering what would it feel like if this is home 😉 . On that note let me let the photos do the rest of the talking!
