This particular trip to Pondicherry was my second one but it was special cause it was my first solo trip. As I had already seen most of Pondicherry and my intention for this trip was to relax, rejuvenate and just be with myself for 3 days, I knew I wanted to stay in some place that felt cozy and comfortable. I wasn’t sure how solo travels are supposed to be and what needs to be done and not done, I just booked my tickets and started looking for a place that would be a home away from home. A place where I would be able to able to forget all my worries and troubles and just enjoy the present moment. Greens Guest House was just what I needed.
The moment I reached there I realised that this place was just perfect, reason being the fact that it was filled with plants and trees of all sorts from top to bottom. It isn’t Greens Guest House just cause of the colour of the building but it is actually surrounded by greenery. Beautiful plants and colourful flowers kept me smiling all through. There is this weird relief I feel when I am at such places, like everything can be alright and it will be alright.
The other thing I noted was that the place was very minimal, cozy, woody and earthy (the vibes I adore). There wasn’t plastic anywhere to be seen. The furniture was all classic wood, the water bottles & jugs were either copper or ceramic and even the wind chimes and hanging lights were ceramic.
There was this beautiful sitting area outside the guest house covered in a bright red brick canopy and provided with backrest for anyone and everyone passing by to just sit and relax for a few moments before continuing with their explorations. When people are so very thoughtful in creating spaces it just feels so good.
There were hammocks & chairs around on all levels outside the rooms so you get to sip your coffee or have your dinner out in the open and enjoy the cool breeze while you are at it. The rooms were exactly like the exteriors, basic, minimal, classic, in short just great. I was so tired the moment I reached that I just forgot about clicking the pictures of the room. The food is also very delicious and healthy with many more options to choose from nearby. Out of the three days I stayed here, I went to Pondicherry for just half a day and to the Auroville beach one morning.
I still have no clue of how solo trips are done but this was my happy first of many more to come. 😀
