30 Lessons I Learned in 30 Years

I recently turned 30 and when I look back, I realize that I got away with a lot of crap in my twenties reminding me of all the fun memories along the way. My last decade was kinda dedicated to finding myself, trying all sorts of new things, searching for “the” companion, finding the right career path, looking for my place or purpose in the world. Whenever I think of my past the memories of multiple dangerous accidents I met with follow, cause each one of those could have literally been my last day but thankfully it wasn’t. Anyways back to 20s, I could make mistakes, screw up royally and still at the end of the day be ok, cause what is life if it isn’t trying and trying again till you find what you are looking for right? The right friends, the right career, the goals worthy of your talents and I so wish the search was over in the 20s but it is not.

Some can say that all the mistakes I made, all the bad decisions were good for nothing. Well, they taught me a lot! My blind faith in people, the hunger for love, search for good in every situation, shameless hope for what I want no matter the circumstances has certainly taught me a lot along the way. All of you reading are also trying out things that you are scared of, making your own mistakes, and learning a thing or two in the process. Therefore, I thought of writing down 30 things that I have learned from 30 years of my life. Now I know it’s difficult to just read and believe something to be true, but look at these as a reminder in your tough times as experience from someone who has been there done that 😉 .

  1. Money is irrelevant! You might think that you will be happier or enjoy life more if you have more money but it’s so not true. Money is not related to happiness, contentment, or peace.
  2. Family is the only constant!
  3. Your parents make for great travel companions, they are like curious kids who want to know and do everything.
  4. Hand written notes and handmade gifts are the best thing that you can give to someone. The only gifts that I still have with me since school days are those handmade cards/ gifts and I really feel happy whenever I see them.
  5. Perspectives change with time and as you grow. What is good and right for you today, might not be tomorrow.
  6. The quote I read back in school, “Change is Constant”. True AF! The moment you think that no there can’t be any more changes and surprise and life will be all wine and roses, Boom!
  7. Friendships like relationships require attention, time and effort (no matter how old they be).
  8. Sometimes you have to let people go, to free yourselves.
  9. Time teaches you a lot and patience is the longest chapter in the book of time.
  10. Your gut is right 90% of the time. Learn to trust it and listen to it more often.
  11. Marriage is not end goal.
  12. Balance is healthy body and healthy mind. Working on just one is definitely not enough.
  13. Money can buy many things. However, things that are truly precious are the ones it cannot buy.
  14. Drinking enough water works like magic. Tried and tested.
  15. You cannot be who you are and who you want be, it is an either or so pick what you want.
  16. Life is unfair at times, but you will get through anything and everything. Just keep trying and be patient.
  17. You deserve everything you set your mind to.
  18. Happiness is simple. Just smile and see the difference.
  19. Embrace your flaws, they will teach you a lot about yourself for the longer run.
  20. Loving yourself is not just a fancy thing that bloggers/ vloggers say. It does give you confidence in ways you never thought possible.
  21. Your health and attitude are your biggest assets. Keep polishing them until death do you part.
  22. Experience JOMO. Pause. Breathe. Slow down. Focus.
  23. Don’t take yourself too seriously, it’s the job for people around you 😛 .
  24. Temper can ruin the best of things. The best thing you can do if it crosses your path is just to Shut up and sleep it off.
  25. Don’t leave decisions on time or people. Make your own choices. Even if it turns out to be wrong its easier to live with!
  26. This one I read somewhere and it just stuck with me, “You can’t give your life more time, so give the time that you have left more life”.
  27. Choose the people you spend your time with wisely. Your subconscious picks up on many things you don’t realize.
  28. If anyone says you can’t (even as a joke), that’s sign enough for you to stay the hell away from the person.
  29. Read, whenever you can, as much as you can. There is plenty out there for all tastes.
  30. Live freely, Love shamelessly and Laugh frequently.

In pursuit of a Happy, Healthy and Hearty Life. Hope you find some words of wisdom in here or just a friend who is striving to be better everyday!
